Functional morphology of dinosaurs, salamanders, and snakes
Undergraduate research at our small liberal arts college (Blackburn College) has been an eclectic series of projects that require minimal financial support. Our work has included analyses of the biomechanics of sauropod locomotion in muddy environments, the affect of vitamin A on tail regeneration in salamander larvae and tadpoles, the histology and histochemistry of cephalic glands in snakes, and sperm competition in ambystomatid salamanders. My latest project working with my student Nino Cavataio (on the left in the photo above) is an investigation of Salmonella infections in captive and wild snakes.
