To study evolution in the oceans I (1) document diversity in the deep-sea and in shallow waters and (2) estimate phylogenies and use the fossil record to trace the history of lineages in space and time. I am currently working on my Ph.D. at Duke University with Cliff Cunningham (NESCent) and Stephen D. Cairns (Smithsonian Institution), and am also interested in using multigene approaches to unravel the phylogenetic relationships of metazoan groups:
