Middle Tennessee State University, Department of Biology invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position (#103360) at the rank of assistant/associate professor. Start date for the position is August 1, 2021. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct independent research and mentor students (undergraduate, M.S., and Ph.D.) at a level that will gain national/international recognition. Teaching responsibilities may include courses in General Biology, Physiology, Anatomy & Physiology and an opportunity to contribute to graduate level courses in the appointees’ area of expertise. Ability to teach Histology and/or Embryology is desirable.

The Department of Biology is housed in a newly constructed 250,000 square foot science building that includes a greenhouse, a small animal research facility, and significant laboratory space (Department of Biology information: http://mtsu.edu/biology). The department hosts both a Master’s program in Biology and an Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program in Molecular Biosciences (https://www.mtsu.edu/programs/molecular-biosciences-phd/index.php). The faculty hire will receive a competitive start-up package and be expected to develop an externally funded research program at a level appropriate to mentor Master’s and Doctoral graduate students. A terminal degree in Biology, Physiology, or other closely related field is needed by appointment date. Applicants with post-doctoral research experience, a strong peer- reviewed publication record, and a level of grant or fellowship funding that reflects high productivity commensurate with the applicant’s current career stage will receive special consideration.
