Division of Developmental and Cell Biology (DDCB): 2007 Fall Newsletter

Message from the Chair

Karen Crawford

Greetings,

It is with great pleasure that I begin my stint as Chair of the DDCB. I want to thank everyone for their support and warm welcome (especially Billie Swalla). I look forward to working with all the members of the Division of Developmental and Cell Biology and welcome your thoughts and comments about how best to move forward in synergy with our close cousin the Division of Evolutionary Developmental Biology. While my real work will begin in January at the meeting in San Antonio, between now and then I will be contacting folks who might serve with me in support of our division as Program Officer, Secretary, and Graduate Student/Postdoctoral Representative. It is an extraordinary time in cell and developmental biology; a time for looking both ways, up and down the timeline of discovery to both reexamine classical studies with contemporary technologies and forge new paths with model and non-model systems. Please send me your ideas for symposia for future meetings and come find me in San Antonio to talk about DDCB and the future.

Cheers and see you in Texas!
