Abstract Submittal - Frequently Asked Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FROM SYMPOSIUM ORGANIZERS:

Q: May I participate in a specific poster session or contributed talk session associated with any symposium?

A: Maybe and most likely for posters! During the online abstract submission process, a person submitting a poster or contributed talk chooses a topic/session. At that time, they will have the opportunity to choose a symposium with which to be associated. Therefore, there will be a specific poster session or contributed talk session associated with your symposium IF individuals choose a symposium (if an associated session has only one entry it will be up to the Program Planning Committee to decide whether to combine it with another session at the Program Planning Meeting).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS PRESENTING POSTERS OR TALKS:

Q: I have a conflict with some of the days of the meeting could I indicate a time or date preference for my presentation?

A: You are not alone; virtually EVERYBODY attending a meeting has schedule conflicts or preferences. Given the gratifying large number of posters and talks (1700+) at a SICB meeting, it is virtually impossible to take date/time preference into account during the final Program Planning Meeting; remember that posters and talks are grouped by subject. Also note that it is less common to find individuals that request the last day of the meeting for their presentation. We are sorry for any conflicts that arise and hope that you are able to work around your conflict or get lucky in scheduling.

Q: What is the exact abstract submission cut-off time?

A: The timer is set at midnight Hawaiian Time of the day of the abstract deadline.
