Your DoB officers are getting excited to attend the 2024 meeting in Seattle, WA! We’ve had 17 abstracts submitted – thanks to everyone who continues to support DoB! As usual, we will be holding our Best Student Presentation competition at the 2024 meeting.

DoB Member Awards

Two DoB graduate student members received SICB’s graduate student awards this year. Award winners were Grace Burgin (Harvard), for their project on “Identifying the genetic basis of self-pollen recognition in Phlox wildflowers,” and Aidan Harrington (University of Minnesota Twin Cities), for their project on “Ecological novelty and the establishment of neopolyploid plants.” Congrats to both, and reminder to student members to check out research and travel award opportunities at https://sicb.org/student-awards/. 

Other DoB Activities

Bryan MacNeill and co-authors recently published an article titled “Floral Diversity and Pollination Syndromes in Agave subgenus Manfreda” in Integrative and Comparative Biology – check out the paper (https://doi.org/10.1093/icb/icad118) and keep the SICB journals in mind for your next botanical manuscript!
