COVID-19 Teaching Materials

The SICB Educational Council has curated two resources to assist our members with physically-distanced teaching, whether it's face-to-face, completely virtual, or some combination of the two:

  • Resources for online biology instruction: a database of online labs and teaching tools for general biology and subdisciplines
  • Online guest lecturers: a database of SICB members who are available for delivering virtual guest lectures for your course
  • Mission Statement: The purpose of the SICB Research and Education Resources (RER) is to provide peer-reviewed instructional materials, resources and activities in integrative and comparative biology for faculty to enhance undergraduate education at two- and four-year colleges and universities.

    Guiding Principles:

    1. Undergraduate education in integrative and comparative biology should take advantage of current pedagogical and scientific research.

    2. Peer-review ensures high quality scholarship in research and education

    3. Effective learning environments require clear expectations of what students are expected to learn and assessments of outcomes.

    4. Inquiry should characterize these learning environments.

    5. Hands-on activities, collaborative investigations, and innovative uses of technology improve the learning environments for students and faculty.
