Opportunity to Obtain Back Issues of American Zoologist for Cost of Shipping and Handling

In an effort to reduce member costs and fees still further, the SICB Business Office has been scrutinizing SICB expenses. One surprisingly large and ongoing expense has been the cost of renting space for storage of back issues of the American Zoologist. Last year the Business Office decided to reduce this cost in three phases. First, excess back issues were offered for sale at a greatly reduced price. Now we are announcing that remaining back issues are available for the cost of shipping and handling. After this phase ends, all remaining back issues will be recycled. To obtain back issues for the cost of shipping and handling, please click here or contact the Business Office at 800/955-1236.

Grants-in-Aid of Research Program
The Grants-in-Aid of Research program provides awards to SICB graduate student members to support scientific investigation in the field of integrative and comparative biology. Proposals are reviewed at SICB Annual Meetings, with $1,000 being the maximum award for any single grant.

Student Support Program
The Student Support program enables many of SICB's graduate student members to attend SICB Annual Meetings by assisting them with their lodging and registration expenses. As a condition to receive this award, each student must agree to donate time as an assistant during some of the sessions.

Libbie H. Hyman Memorial Scholarship Fund
This scholarship fund was established by the Division of Invertebrate Zoology in memory of Dr. Libbie H. Hyman and provides assistance for students to participate in courses or to conduct research at a marine, terrestrial or freshwater field station. The grant is meant to enable a first experience for a student who may be an advanced undergraduate or beginning graduate student.

George A. Bartholomew Fund
SICB's Division of Comparative Physiology and Biochemistry awards an outstanding young investigator in that field with this fund. The winner of this award presents a special session at the SICB Annual Meeting.

D. Dwight Davis Fund
Donations to this fund support the Division of Vertebrate Morphology's Davis prize. This award is presented to the best student oral contributed paper for this division at the SICB Annual Meeting.

John A. Moore Lectureship Fund
Named in honor of John A. Moore, the creator of the Science as a Way of Knowing (SAAWOK) series, the fund supports an SICB Educational Council lecturer at the SICB Annual Meeting.

Submit Your Manuscripts to Experimental Biology Online

Experimental Biology Online (EBO) is a multimedia electronic journal sponsored by three societies with a membership of over 6,000 scientists worldwide: SICB, Society for Experimental Biology, and the Australian and New Zealand Society for Comparative Physiology and Biochemistry. The journal specializes in short, topical research papers on experimental biology in its broadest sense, ranging from the molecular and cellular boundaries to the integrative study of whole organisms, including the experimental analysis of behavior.

All papers are submitted and peer-reviewed electronically either via e-mail or anonymous FTP server. This usage of the Internet at every step of the reviewing process leads to exceedingly short publication times of only a few weeks.

Take a closer look at the journal. Visit EBO at http://science.springer.de/ebo/ebo-main.htm or http://link.springer-ny.com. If you think you may have a slow connection, please access EBO at http://link.springer-ny.com/link/service/journals/00898/index.htm.
